I’m Back On Land!
For the past week, I’ve been off the internet grid and instead on vacation! Thank God, too. I needed a break from my laptop, and tweeting, and writing, and scheduling, and promoting, and contacting, and emailing, and blah blah blah blah BLEEECCCCHHHH. SO, my entire family on my mom’s side went on a cruise with Royal Caribbean for a week; it was fantastic. I had never been on a cruise before and I can now easily say that this past one won’t be my last. I absolutely loved it. There was so much to do on the ship: comedy shows, musicals, gambling, pools, fitness centers, acrobat performances, ice shows, and we aren’t even counting excursions when we got to different islands and countries. I had a great time with family and I’m pretty sure I’m going to plan another cruise...like, tomorrow.
I got to meet some fantastic comedians and performers on the cruise! Charles Peachock (pictured with me below), a quarter-finalist comedian/insane juggler, was incredible to watch. I had no idea juggling could be so entertaining to watch. Charles is also from Kent, OH which is about 40 min from Canton. I had the pleasure of meeting him and talking to him for a second. I told him that he’s a bit of an inspiration because if someone from my area (or close to it) can make a career in entertainment, then so can I.
Mike Marino was a comedian that I was extremely lucky to see perform/meet as well. This man absolutely killed me. He’s an Italian comedian from New Jersey and he absolutely OWNS this fact. I can’t even explain how ridiculously funny he was. He was so damn funny that after every one of his jokes, HE would sit there and start laughing! If you have the chance, and I’m sure you do, look him up on YouTube or Netflix. If you like Italian comedians, you will love Mike Marino.
Although there were drinks a plenty and adventures galore, there were some downsides.......I decided to go snorkeling for the first time while we were in St. Maarten. About 50 people got onto a smaller boat to take a 35 minute ride over to some crystal blue waters off of one of the beaches. While we were on our way over to snorkel, I began noticing how much the boat was rocking. This was a big, red alarm because I get very sea sick very fast. Eventually we made it to our snorkeling spot and I thought it was the end of my fear; I was very wrong. Shortly after I got into the water, I began getting extremely dizzy and nauseous so I decided to hop back up on the boat; mistake. This triggered a nice chain of events that caused me to vomit for the entire 90 minute excursion. The only nice part about this all was that I wasn’t alone.
My step-dad also got sick so we shared each other’s pain. After all that fun, we got back to dry land and I proceeded to drink some wine........cause that’s what you’re supposed to do after you puke!
I’m home now so that means it’s back to my normal promoting, playing, and evolving as a musician. Although I’m sad to be leaving my family and my amazing cruise, I’m excited to get back to it!
Let me just also say that being without my phone and an internet connection for a week was actually very liberating. There comes a strange discomfort at first when you don’t have your phone with you, but then you totally forget you have one and feel so much more at ease. I felt so much more relaxed and I have to contribute some of that feeling to the lack of a device.
That’s my little account of the trip. Next week, we will be back with music information.
